Let Venu’s daughter’s age be ‘x’ years

Venu’s present age = 5x

⇒ (5/7) × Venu’s mother’s present age = 5x

⇒ Venu’s mother’s present age = 7x

The total of the present ages of all of them = 273 years

⇒ x + 5x + 7x = 273

⇒ 13x = 273

⇒ x = 273/13 = 21

The difference between Venu and his mother’s present age = 7x – 5x = 2x = 2 × 21 = 42 years

∴ The difference between Venu and his mother’s present age = 42 years
