Let x be the number of boys and y be the number of girls

From the question, equations can be formed as follows:

3x + 2y = 18      ----- (1)

5x + 3y = 29      ----- (2)

Eqn (1) × 5 - eqn (2) × 3, we get

10y – 9y = 90 – 87

⇒ y = 3

Substituting value of y in eqn 1, we get x = 4

Thus on solving, we get x = 4 and y = 3
